BLUE JACKETS TEAM NOTES

  • The Blue Jackets stretched their points streak to four-straight (2-0-2) after collecting a point in a 4-3 overtime loss at the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.  The club kicked off the stretch in sweeping its first back-to-back set of the season last week, earning a 3-1 win over Calgary on Oct. 20 and 5-4 overtime win at Minnesota on Oct. 21.  The team also earned a point in a 3-2 OT loss to Anaheim on Tuesday.
  • The win at Minnesota on Oct. 21 kicked off a stretch of 7-of-11 games played away from Nationwide Arena through Nov. 12.  The club also visits Dallas (Oct. 30), Washington (Nov. 4), Florida (Nov. 6), Detroit (Nov. 11) and the NY Rangers (Nov. 12) following the game in Montreal on Thursday.
  • Thursday’s game against the Canadiens kicked off a stretch of three-of-four and six-of-eight games against Eastern Conference teams.
  • The contest against the Islanders is the third of 21 Saturday games (11 at home) for the Blue Jackets this season.  The club, which won 5-3 over the Rangers (Oct. 14) and 4-3 in OT over the Wild (Oct. 21), plays on each of the Saturdays over the first six weeks of the season from Oct. 14-Nov. 18.
  • Columbus has outshot each of its last three opponents (Minnesota, Anaheim and Montreal) by a combined 43 shots.  The last time the club has outshot its opponents in three-straight games was Feb. 18-23, 2023 against Dallas, Arizona and Minnesota by a combined 23 shots.
  • The Blue Jackets have scored the first goal in each of the four games over the current points streak (2-0-2).
  • CBJ finished 2-of-4 on the man advantage at Montreal on Thursday and have now scored a power play goal in three consecutive games (4-of-14; 28.6 pct.).
  • Blue Jackets blueliners collected 0-2-2 in Thursday’s game at Montreal and have combined for 1-11-12 over the past four contests.  They have now combined for 3-14-17 in seven games this season, ranking 10th-T in the NHL in scoring from the blueline in 2023-24.

BLUE JACKETS PLAYER NOTES

  • RW Emil Bemstrom has scored power play goals in each of the last two games (3-0-3), including two in Thursday’s contest at Montreal.  He is tied for the NHL lead in power play goals (3) in 2023-24.
  • RW Justin Danforth has recorded 3-1-4 in the last six contests, including goals in two-straight games from Oct. 20-21 (2-1-3).
  • Adam Fantilli registered goals in back-to-back games from Oct. 21-24 (2-1-3), including notching his first career goal at Minnesota on October 21 and his first career multi-point outing (1-1-2) against Anaheim on Tuesday.  The 2023 third overall pick has totaled 2-2-4 in his first seven NHL games, ranking second-T among League rookies in goals and fourth-T in points, trailing the League leaders by one in each category.
  • LW Johnny Gaudreau has collected 0-4-4 in seven games this season.  He led the club in assists, points and multi-point efforts with 21-53-74 and 20 multi-point outings in 80 games in his first season with the Blue Jackets in 2022-23.
  • Boone Jenner, who recorded his second career hat trick on Oct. 14 vs. the NY Rangers, leads the club in goals and ranks third in points with 4-1-5 in six games this season.  He led CBJ in goals in 2022-23 with 26-19-45 in 68 outings.
  • Ivan Provorov collected an assist on Thursday and has set a new career best with assists in four-straight games (0-4-4).  He leads the team in assists and points (tied), while also ranking fifth-T among NHL blueliners – and two off the League lead – in assists in 2023-24.
  • Jack Roslovic has registered points in four consecutive games (2-4-6) after registering points on all three of the Blue Jackets’ goals at Montreal (1-2-3).  It was the 10th time in his career he’s recorded at least three points in a game.
  • Zach Werenski has collected points in three of his last four games (1-3-4) after picking up an assist on Thursday.
  • CBJ have two 19-year-old rookies on the team with C Adam Fantilli (2023 third overall pick) and D David Jiricek (2022 sixth overall selection).
