Ohio State men’s basketball team showed its 2023-24 season version with a special charity exhibition game on Sunday night.

Buckeyes head coach Chris Holtmann before the season by Dayton Flyers head coach Anthony Grant about playing UD for this exhibition game for the purposes of Mental Health Awareness. The NCAA rules allow Division I teams to play each other in public exhibition games, provided the proceeds are donated to charity. The proceeds for Sunday’s game are going for mental health initiatives for adolescents and young adults. Grant and his family have been champions for this disease since the death of their daughter Jayda back in June of 2022.

Dayton organizers said the weekend’s four days of events, along with the game Sunday night, raised over $500,000 for mental health initiatives. Several companies, Dayton area personalities, the Atlantic 10 Conference, where Dayton is a member, and a former Flyers star Obi Toppin all donated to the worthy cause.

The Flyers, favorites to win the A-10 this season, were led by Enoch Cheeks with 17 points and DaRon Holmes with 10.
