Columbus Crew News: Defender Steven Moreira Called-Up to Cape Verde Islands National Team

COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew Defender Steven Moreira has been selected to represent Cape Verde Islands in the October FIFA International Window.

 

Moreira and Cape Verde face Algeria in an international friendly on Oct. 12 at Stade Chahid Hamlaoui in Constantine, Algeria.

Born in Noisy-le-Grand, France, Moreira represented France at various youth levels including the 2013 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, helping earn a second-place finish. The defender has appeared in 72 league matches, recording one goal and 15 assists since coming to Columbus in August of 2021.
Moreira is the third Crew player called-up by his respective national team this window, joining midfielder Aidan Morris and goalkeeper Patrick Schulte, who are currently with the U.S. Men’s U-23 Youth National Team for a domestic training camp in Phoenix, Ariz.
