NATIONWIDE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL CHAMPIONSHIP NEWS- 2023 Final Field Announced

September 18, 2023

Columbus, Ohio – At 9 a.m. EDT Tournament Officials announced the 120-player field of Korn Ferry Tour players who are eligible and have committed to compete in the 2023 Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship.

The following players finished within the top 120 on the Korn Ferry Tour points list after last week’s Simmons Bank Open in College Grove, Tennessee, and will play in the third of four Korn Ferry Tour Finals events being hosted this coming week, September 18-24, at The Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio.

The current field of competitors for Columbus is highlighted by a number of past winners on the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA TOUR, collectively representing 65 Korn Ferry Tour wins and seven TOUR victories.

The Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship is one of four Korn Ferry Tour events that help determine which players will earn PGA TOUR membership each season. The top 30 players in the season-long standings at the conclusion of the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour Championship will earn PGA TOUR membership for the 2024 season.

For the first time since 2013 on the Korn Ferry Tour, there are no longer separate point standings for pre-Finals and Finals events, but rather a cumulative standings structure.  A Finals event is no longer a competition for TOUR cards between the top 75 on the Korn Ferry Tour and Nos. 126-200 in the FedExCup standings.  Beginning this year, “Finals” refers to the final four events of the season, where Korn Ferry Tour members compete for increased purses and points allocation.

The four Finals events – which includes the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship – feature $1.5 million purses and award 600 points to each winner.  The fields for the Finals will be progressively reduced, starting with 156 players for event No. 1, 144 players for event No. 2 and finishing with 75 players in the final event.  The preceding 22 events on the schedule will have a minimum purse of $1 million – a 67% increase from 2021 to 2023 – and award 500 points to the winner.

The field for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship will compete over 72 holes of stroke play, with a cut to the top-60 players and ties after 36 holes. Golf Channel will broadcast tournament coverage from Thursday’s opening round to the trophy presentation on Sunday in high definition.
