FLUSHING, N.Y., August 23, 2023 – The New York Mets will host their second annual Women’s Day at Citi Field presented by Citi on Saturday, August 26 when they take on the Los Angeles Angels at 7:10 p.m. Led by the Mets female driven employee resource group, “She-Unit”, Women’s Day at Citi Field will be a celebration of women in sports with female focused pregame and in-game programming in honor of Women’s Equality Day.

Prior to the start of the game, there will be a panel discussion with female industry leaders, who will speak to an all-female audience, including young women from Girls Inc, a New York City-based nonprofit, who, through education, programming and advocacy, inspires all girls, young women and gender-expansive youth to be strong, smart, and bold. The “Next Generation” panel will feature Vice President of Club Operations at MLB Kate Hussmann, SVP, Partnership Marketing at Citi Bonnie Mayo, and Northeast Regional Director at Cadillac Dara Freeman. The panel will be hosted by Chelsea Sherrod, on-air personality of SNY.

The Mets are also excited to host the Massapequa International 12 and under softball team who won the Little League Softball World Series earlier this month in Greenville, NC. The team became the first squad from New York state to win it all. The team will be on the field during batting practice to meet the Mets.

Representatives from the Massapequa softball team and Cameron Brink, a Princeton, NJ native, who is currently a senior on the Stanford University women’s basketball team will be part of the pre-game ceremonies. Brink helped lead the Cardinal to the 2021 NCAA national championship and recently became New Balance’s first female basketball athlete.

Mets players will select walkout music from female artists and in-game programming will highlight and celebrate women.

The Mets will also be remembering Joan Payson with a tribute video on the scoreboard. Payson, the Mets first owner and a pioneer, became the first woman to purchase a majority ownership stake in a major league team.

Fans can purchase tickets to this game and all 2023 Mets home games at the Citi Field box office, by visiting Mets.com/Tickets or calling 718-507-TIXX.
