Cleveland Guardians bring back C Eric Haase from Detroit Tigers on waiver claim

CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Guardians today announced the following transactions:

Claimed C ERIC HAASE from the Detroit Tigers…Designated C ZACK COLLINS for assignment.

Haase, 30, returns to the Guardians organization following four seasons with the Detroit Tigers from 2020-23.

He was originally drafted by Cleveland in the seventh round of the 2011 MLB Draft and debuted with the Indians in Sept. 2018. He was later traded to Detroit in January 2020. He owns a career Major League average of .225 (222-for-987) with 37 2B, 3 3B, 41 HR and 137 RBI in 320 games. He was credited with 4 Defensive Runs Saved this year according to Fangraphs. He was recently designated for assignment by the Tigers on Aug. 19.
