DAYTON/ESTERO, FL – The Wright State men’s basketball team is set to head back to the Sunshine State for tournament action this November, as the 2023 Gulf Coast Showcase officially announced its participating teams on Wednesday.

Wright State will play three contests inside Hertz Arena in Estero, Florida November 20-22 ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

This will be Wright State’s second visit to the Gulf Coast Showcase in the last five years after the Raiders also participated in the event during the 2019-20 campaign, winning two of three games in Florida that fall. Overall, it will be the Raiders’ third late November trip to Florida in the same time frame after competing in the Naples Invitational during the 2021-22 season.

Current Raiders Trey Calvin and Tanner Holden are the only remaining players on the Wright State roster from the previous visit to the Gulf Coast Showcase, where Calvin averaged 4.3 points per game and Holden added a 6.7 points per game average in supporting roles as part of their first months of collegiate action.

Wright State will open tournament action with a 5 p.m. tipoff on Monday, Nov. 20 against Louisiana. Other first round matchups include Iona-High Point (11 a.m.), Long Beach State-Illinois State (1:30 p.m.) and Hofstra-Buffalo (7:30 p.m.). Game times for Tuesday and Wednesday will be the same with semifinal games on Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday’s championship game will tip at 7:30 p.m. All games will be streamed live by FloHoops.
