COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew announced today that the Club has agreed to terms with Red Star Belgrade of the Serbian First Division for the permanent transfer of defender Milos Degenek for an undisclosed fee.
“Milos has been a solid professional over the past 18 months, and for him this was an opportunity to move closer to family, which was something he desired,” said Crew President and General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “We appreciate Milos’ contributions to the Black & Gold, and we wish him the best in his return to Serbia.”
Degenek joined the Crew prior to the start of the 2022 season as a free agent after playing for Red Star Belgrade. The Australian international has appeared in 40 regular season matches (34 starts) for the Black & Gold. In November 2022, Degenek became the eighth player named to a World Cup roster while a member of the Crew and would go on to appear in all four of Australia’s matches in Qatar.
