Florida Complex League outfielder Raylin Heredia and Reading right-handed pitcher Carlos Francisco have been named Phillies Minor League Hitter and Pitcher of the Month, respectively, for June.
The 19-year-old Heredia posted a .377/.443/.639 slash line (1.082 OPS), going 23-for-61 with five doubles, one triple, three home runs, 15 RBI, six walks and four stolen bases in 15 games for the FCL Phillies during June. Among qualified FCL hitters, the right-handed hitter ranked second in average and slugging percentage, third in OPS, tied for third in hits and extra-base hits (9) and tied for fourth in RBI and total bases (39). Heredia signed with the Phillies as an amateur free agent on Jan. 15, 2021, and was signed by Carlos Salas and Juan Feliciano.
Francisco, 24, made eight appearances for single-A Jersey Shore before being promoted to double-A Reading on June 29, where he made one appearance during the month. The 6-foot-4 right-hander combined to throw 10.2 innings while striking out 15 of the 40 batters he faced (37.5%), walking only one batter (2.5%), holding hitters to a .205 average (8-39) and posting a 0.58 FIP. Francisco led the South Atlantic League in saves for the month with four and his 0.62 WHIP in June with Jersey Shore ranked fifth among pitchers with at least 7.0 innings pitched. He was selected by the Phillies in the 28th round of the 2019 MLB Draft and was signed by Jeff Zona Jr.
