LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman, outfielder Mookie Betts and designated hitter J.D. Martinez were selected as National League All-Star starters as they all won the Phase 2 fan vote and will start for the National League in the 93^rd Midsummer Classic at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, WA. For the second straight season, the Dodgers will have multiple representatives in the game, joining last year’s team, which featured Betts, Trea Turner and Clayton Kershaw in the starting lineup. It will be the first time the Dodgers feature three position players in the starting lineup since 1980 when Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Bill Russell and Reggie Smith starred in the 1980 midsummer classic for the National League at Dodger Stadium.

Freeman, 29, earns his seventh All-Star Game selection and second straight as a member of the Dodgers. In 79 games with the Dodgers, he is batting .317 with 14 homers and 49 RBI, leading the team in hits, OBP, OPS, SLG, stolen bases and OPS. He won the first base vote by 20% over Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson and will earn his third start in the classic (2018-19, 2021). The 2020 National League MVP is amongst the Major League leaders in various categories, including runs (63, 3^rd), extra-base hits (42, 4^th), batting average (.317, 5th) and total bases (171, 4th). On Sunday, he became just the 98^th player in Major League Baseball history to record 2,000 hits with 300+ homers. In his 14-year career, he has amassed 306 homers, 1,090 RBI while holding a lifetime .299 batting average with 1,149 runs scored.

Betts, 30, will make his seventh trip to the All-Star Game and his fourth as starter. He earns his fourth start in the All-Star game by collecting 34% of the National League outfield vote and will join Corbin Carroll and Ronald Acuña Jr. as outfield starters. Last night, the Nashville native clubbed his 20^th homer of the season, giving the Dodgers an early lead. It was his 16^th homer since May 1^st, which is tied for second in the National League with Jorge Soler, trailing only Matt Olson for most homers in that span. The 2018 American League MVP has eight leadoff homers this season, which lead the league and are the second most prior to the All-Star game since George Springer clubbed nine in 2017. On the season, he is batting .255 with 20 homers, 50 RBI and a .868 OPS. He ranks amongst the National League leaders in homers (T-4^th), slugging percentage (.513, 11^th), OPS (.868, 13^th) and runs (58, 7^th). He is in his 10^th Major League season, and he is a career .290 hitter with 233 homers and 699 RBI in 1189 games.
