COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew defender Jake Morris has been loaned to USL Championship side Loudoun United FC for the remainder of the 2023 season. The Black & Gold retain the right to recall Morris at any point during the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.
“This loan will provide Jake with valuable minutes to continue his development as a young professional,” said Crew President and General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “Jake has made strides since signing with the Club last year, and more consistent match experience in a competitive environment with Loudoun will aid his development.”
Morris joined the Crew as a Homegrown Player on Jan. 14, 2020, following a trade with Seattle Sounders FC for his MLS Homegrown Priority.
The 24-year-old made his First Team debut earlier this year, entering the match in the 77th minute of the Crew’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against Indy Eleven, and additionally appeared as a substitute in the Open Cup match on May 10 against Loudoun.
Morris has appeared in 28 total MLS NEXT Pro matches to date, starting 24, and has posted one goal and four assists.
