PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Monday morning, Coquese Washington announced the third addition to the 2023-24 Rutgers women’s basketball roster with the signing of Texas A&M transfer Mya Petticord. The point guard will join the Scarlet Knights with three remaining seasons of eligibility after spending her freshman campaign with the Aggies.

“Mya is a player who impacts the game on a number of levels,” said Washington. “She can score and does some wonderful things with the ball when it’s in her hands. She plays the game at a fast pace, creating opportunities for herself and her teammates. She can knock down the 3-point shot with consistency while also finishing at the rim. She just has an excitement about her when she plays. Our fans are going to love cheering her on.”

During her rookie season, the Detroit, Michigan product appeared in 21 games season and made one start, averaging just over 15 minutes of playing time per outing. Petticord hit multiple career-highs against SMU on Dec. 18, including 10 points and three assists. The 5-foot-9 point guard averaged 22.9 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field and 80 percent from the charity stripe her senior season. She finished her high school career as Arbor Prep’s all-time leading scorer, totaling 1,709 points.
