Gilberto Celestino transferred to 60-day Injured List
NEW YORK, NY – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed infielder Kyle Farmer on the 10-day Injured List with a facial laceration.
Farmer, 32, sustained the injury in the fourth inning of yesterday’s game against the Chicago White Sox at Target Field, after being struck by a pitch. He has hit .226 (7-for-31) with one double, one home run, five RBI, two walks and six runs scored in 11 games for the Twins this season.
To replace Farmer on the 26-man roster, the Twins have selected the contract of outfielder Kyle Garlick from Triple-A St. Paul. Garlick, 31, has hit .235 with one double, two home runs, seven RBI, two walks, one stolen base, six runs scored and a .738 OPS in eight games for the Saints this season.
To make room for Garlick on the 40-man roster, the Twins have transferred outfielder Gilberto Celestino to the 60-day Injured List. Celestino has missed the Twins’ last 12 games recovering from left thumb surgery.
