BLUE JACKETS NOTE OF THE GAME

«  LW Johnny Gaudreau scored his team-leading fourth game-winning goal of the season to give him 20-53-73 in 79 appearances this season.  It’s also his third overtime goal of the campaign, trailing only Artemi Panarin (4 in 2018-19) for the most in a single season by a Blue Jackets skater.  He is now tied for the fifth-most points by a CBJ player in a single season in franchise history (Nick Foligno, 2014-15).  The forward also improved to 8-6-14 in 18 career games vs. the Penguins, including 4-3-7 in his last eight contests vs. the club.

BLUE JACKETS TEAM NOTES

  • The Blue Jackets recorded points for a second-straight game (1-0-1) and snapped their four-game losing streak (0-3-1) with tonight’s overtime win over the Penguins.
  • Columbus completed its season series with the Penguins tonight, finishing 1-2-1.
  • The Blue Jackets snapped Pittsburgh’s eight-game winning streak in the series with tonight’s overtime win (CBJ; 0-6-2).
  • The club converted on one-of-four power play attempts tonight and has now scored a power play goal in 13 of the past 21 games (15-for-63; 23.8 pct.).  Columbus has also converted on 24-of-104 opportunities over the last 35 contests (23.1 pct.).
  • With 0-3-3 tonight, the club’s rookies have now posted 41-46-87 over the last 50 games since Dec. 20 (54-64-118 in 81 games this season).
  • Columbus picked up its 14th comeback victory of the season tonight, trailing 1-0 in the first period and 2-1 in the third period.  The club has now come-from-behind to win in nine of its last 12 victories.
  • With four Blue Jackets’ making their NHL debuts tonight, the club has now seen 47 different players play in a game this season (41 skaters, six goaltenders).  It sets new franchise records for the most netminders and players to play in a game in a single season.  It also marks the first time in team history that four skaters have made their debut in a single game.
  • Tonight’s attendance was a sellout crowd of 18,369.  It’s the seventh sellout in the last eight games at Nationwide Arena.
  • CBJ plays its 17th and final back-to-back set of the 2022-23 season on Thursday vs. Pittsburgh and Friday vs. Buffalo.

«  RW Emil Bemstrom scored a goal and now has 1-1-2 in his past six contests.  He has set a new single-season career high in assists and points with 7-15-22 in 54 appearances in 2022-23.

«  C Sean Kuraly registered his ninth assist of the season to give him points in two-straight games (1-1-2; overall, 11-9-20 in 70 GP).

«  C Hunter McKown registered his second assist of the campaign, giving him 0-2-2 in 11 games since making his NHL debut on March 24 vs. the NY Islanders.

«  D Adam Boqvist tallied his 18th assist of the campaign, giving him 2-2-4 in his last nine outings.  With 5-18-23 in 45 games, he has set a new single-season career high in assists and points.

«  D Samuel Knazko made his NHL debut tonight, finishing with 9:35 of ice time.

«  C Tyler Angle made his NHL debut tonight, posting one shot and one hit on 10:49 of ice time.
