BLUE JACKETS TEAM NOTES

  • The Blue Jackets fell 4-3 in overtime at Philadelphia on Tuesday to move to 3-6-2 in their last 11 games.
  • Columbus closed out a stretch of 15-of-21 games played away from Nationwide Arena from February 26-April 11 with its last road game of the season on Tuesday at Philadelphia.  The club will play its final two games of the campaign at home at Nationwide Arena on Thursday (Pittsburgh) and Friday (Buffalo).
  • The Jackets have come-from-behind to win in eight of their last 11 victories.
  • CBJ finished 1-for-3 on the power play on Tuesday and have now recorded a power play goal in 12 of their last 20 games (14-for-59; 23.7 pct.).  The team ranks ninth-T in the NHL in power play percentage since February 28.
  • The team also ranks seventh in the NHL in PP pct. since January 21, converting on 23-of-100 opportunities over the last 35 contests (23.0).
  • The Blue Jackets play their final 12 games of the season against the Eastern Conference (7 vs. Metropolitan Division).  Last Thursday’s contest against New Jersey kicked off a stretch of four-straight against the Metropolitan Division before closing out the campaign against Buffalo (Atlantic Division) on April 14.

  • RW Kirill Marchenko (21) and C Kent Johnson (16) are the third pair of rookie teammates to score double digit goals in a single season in club history, joining C Serge Aubin (13) and RW David Vyborny (13) in 2000-01 and C Pierre-Luc Dubois (20) and LW Sonny Milano (14) in 2017-18.
  • CBJ added 11-man games lost due to injury/illness on Tuesday at Philadelphia to reach 541 MGL this season and continue to set a new single-season record (508 MGL, 2014-15).
  • Jet Greaves made his NHL debut last Tuesday at Toronto, becoming the sixth goaltender and 43rd player to play in a game for the club this season.  The team has tied the franchise record for most players to play a game in a single season (40 skaters and 3 goaltenders; 2003-04) and set the record for most goaltenders to play a game (5; 2006-07 and 2008-09).
  • CBJ are on pace to post the highest attendance for games played at Nationwide Arena since 2003-04 (17,369) this season.  The club has averaged 16,873 with 12 sellouts (18,144) in 2022-23.  The club has posted sellouts in six of the last seven home games (18,633 avg.).

BLUE JACKETS PLAYER NOTES

  • Gavin Bayreuther has set single-season career highs in goals (tied), assists, points and games played with 2-11-13 in 49 contests in 2022-23.
  • Adam Boqvist has registered 5-7-12 in his last 23 contests and 5-11-16 in his past 28 appearances.  He has recorded 5-17-22 in 44 games, setting a single-season career high in assists and tying his single-season career high in points (22 in 2021-22).
  • Liam Foudy has posted 5-4-9 in the last 17 games and 7-4-11 over the past 25 outings after collecting 0-3-3 in his first 35 games of the campaign.
  • LW Johnny Gaudreau has posted 4-13-17 in his last 16 games.  He leads the club in assists, points, multi-assist efforts (14) and multi-point games (20) with 19-53-72 in 78 games this season.  He has registered his fourth 50-assist campaign and fifth 70-point season of his career.  His 53 assists are the fourth-most in a single-season in club history while his 72 points are the sixth-most.
  • Boone Jenner was named the club’s nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy by the Columbus PHWA on Monday.  The club’s captain, who has recorded 7-2-9 in the last 15 outings, has also posted 12-7-19 in his last 28 outings and 15-8-22 in his past 34 games.  He leads the team in goals with 26-19-45 in 68 contests in 2022-23, recording 25-plus goals for the second time in his career.  It’s four goals and points shy of tying his single-season career high set in 2015-16 (30-19-49 in 82 GP).
  • Kent Johnson has collected 2-4-6 in his last 11 outings and 3-8-11 in his past 17 contests.  He ranks fourth among League rookies in scoring in 2022-23 and is the third rookie in CBJ history to record 40 points in a single campaign with 16-24-40 in 77 games.
  • RW Kirill Marchenko has posted 21-4-25 and seven power play tallies in 57 games since making his NHL debut at Pittsburgh on December 6.  He has set a franchise record for most goals by a rookie in a single campaign (Dubois, 20 in 2017-18) and tied the club mark for most power play goals (Jaroslav Balastik, 2005-06).  Marchenko is tied for the NHL lead among rookies in power play goals (Mason McTavish) and ranks second-T in goals in 2022-23, trailing only Seattle’s Matty Beniers (24 goals, 79 games).
  • Andrew Peeke, who ranks third in the NHL in blocked shots in 2022-23 with 194, has surpassed Ryan Murray (171; 2015-16) for the most blocked shots in a single season in club history (since 2005-06).  He has recorded a blocked shot in 72 of his 78 contests this season.
  • Jack Roslovic has registered 4-4-8 in his last nine games played.  He has set a single-season career high in assists and is one point shy of tying his single-season career high (45; 2021-22) with 11-33-44 in 75 contests this season.
