COLUMBUS, Ohio – After meeting three times last season, Ohio State and Penn State are set to meet for the lone time this season when the teams get together Thursday night in Columbus. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. at Value City Arena inside the Schottenstein Center and it will be televised on FS1. Brandon Gaudin Stephen Bardo will call the action.

  • Ohio State officially leads the all-time series with Penn State 40-19, and that includes a 21-5 mark here in Columbus. The Buckeyes have won six of the last seven meetings in Columbus dating back to 2015.
  • Ohio State swept the regular season meetings last year, winning 76-64 in State College and 61-56 in Columbus. But Penn State got revenge in the Big Ten Tournament, coming back to beat the Buckeyes 71-68 in Indianapolis. E.J. Liddell led the Buckeyes in scoring in two of the three games and averaged 19.3 points and 7.0 rebounds over the three games. Penn State transfer Jamari Wheeler had nine points, eight assists and five rebounds in his return to State College in December.
  • Ohio State has relied on the most percentage of minutes by freshmen of any team in the Big Ten. The freshmen have accounted for more than 40 percent of the minutes this season.
  • The Buckeyes started four true freshmen at Purdue on Feb. 19. That was the first time Ohio State had four freshmen in its starting lineup since the final game of the 1995-96 season against Penn State (credit Adam Jardy, Columbus Dispatch).
  • There are five active players in Division I who have scored 1,000 points, grabbed 700 rebounds and dished-out five assists in their careers and two of them will share the same court on Thursday. Ohio State’s Isaac Likekele and Penn State’s Jalen Pickett have both hit those career marks.
  • Felix Okpara started for the third time this season on Sunday vs. Purdue and finished with a season-high four blocks. He has nine games with multiple blocks and is currently 10th in the Big Ten with 30 blocks on the season.
  • Freshman Brice Sensabaugh scored 20 points at Purdue on Sunday, marking his ninth 20-point game of the season. He is just 55 points shy of 500 for the season as he’s looking to become just the sixth OSU freshmen to score 500 points in their inaugural season.
