Ohio Bobcats star Jaylin Hunter Named MAC Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Ohio men’s basketball junior guard Jaylin Hunter has been named the Mid-American Conference Co-Player of the Week, the league announced this morning (Feb. 13). 

Hunter (Manchester, Conn.) led the Bobcats this week, putting together his best stretch of the season and helping the Bobcats go 2-0 on the week and extend their winning steak to three games. Overall, Hunter averaged 22.0 points a game, while shooting .556 from the field, .500 from three and was 7-of-9 from the line. He also added 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals a game.

On Feb. 7 at NIU, Hunter scored a team-high 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists. He went 8-of-13 from the field and 3-of-7 from three in the 82-76 victory. Hunter continued his dominance on Friday night against Akron, scoring a career-high 25 points, while going 7-of-14 from the field, 4-of-7 from three and 7-of-9 from the line, while grabbing one rebound, dishing out four assists and grabbing two steals in the 90-81 victory.

Up next, the Bobcats take on Buffalo on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Canter.
