INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI freshman guard DJ Jackson has been named the #HLMBB Freshman of the Week for the week ending Feb. 5, as announced by the league office. Jackson averaged 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 14-of-21 (66.7 percent) from the floor in two contests.

He becomes the third different IUPUI freshman to earn the award this season as the Jaguars’ rookie class has accounted for seven of the 13 weekly awards this season.

Against Milwaukee on Thursday (Feb. 2), Jackson had 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting and hit 3-of-4 at the foul line. He matched his season-high with seven rebounds and delivered a season-high three assists in that contest. Two days later, Jackson had 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting while grabbing six rebounds in the win over Green Bay on Feb. 4.

The Ontario-native has now scored in double-digits in four of IUPUI’s last five games after failing to do so in his first nine appearances as a Jaguar. For the season, he’s averaging 7.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 42.9 percent from the floor. The past five games, Jackson is averaging 13.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
