Back during the preseason, the Buckeyes basketball team selected  Zed Key, Justice Sueing, and Isaac Likekele as captains for the 2022-23 season.

After a 10-3 start to the 2022-2023 season, the young Buckeyes team has fallen on hard times and an NCAA bid going out the window. Now sitting at 11-12 overall, and 3-9 in the Big Ten, the basketball team has a new captain.

Head coach Chris Holtmann said there usually is no re-vote of captains once the season starts during his media presser on Monday and confirmed that he had his team go back through a re-vote for captains to shake things up a bit, and that freshman guard Bruce Thorton was named captain.

Thornton has more than proven himself all season but especially Sunday in the game at Michigan where he took control, looked poised, confident, and active scoring 22 points in 36 minutes of action and took care of the ball with just 1 turnover.
