INDIANAPOLIS (1/16/2023) — University of Detroit Mercy graduate senior Antoine Davis added a third NCAA record to his name last weekend, and today he garnered another Horizon League award as he was named the Nike® #HLMBB Player of the Week.
It is the 11th time in his career that he has been named the conference Player of the Week, which is already a league record.
Davis averaged 36.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists, shooting 54.2% overall (26-48) and 50.0% from three (14-28) last weekend. He posted a game-high 32 points against Youngstown State and a season-high 41 points in the win over Robert Morris, nailing 15-of-26 from the floor and a career and school-record 11-of-18 from three, along with tallying six rebounds.
He hit eight of his 11 triples in the first half and the eighth was the record-breaking trifecta giving him 510 in his career to break the NCAA all-time mark. Davis now has 513 career 3-pointers and 3,232 points, third in NCAA history. He leads the nation in scoring at 26.2 points and has a HL best five 30-point games and 16, 20-point contests on the season.
Davis also became the first player in 40 years to tally a 40-point game in four different campaigns, is just the second player in NCAA history with 3,000 career points and 500 assists and has a school-record five 40-point outings.
He now owns the NCAA record for 3-pointers by a freshman (132), total 3-pointers and consecutive games in double figures (130). He is approaching the NCAA record of total games in double figures of 135 by Creighton’s Doug McDermott (2010-14) and is just 17 points away from second and 435 behind Pete Maravich’s NCAA record 3,667.
Detroit Mercy will be back in action on Saturday as the Titans visit IUPUI before coming home to take on Oakland on Monday, Jan. 23.
