CINCINNATI — Xavier University graduate student Jack Nunge has been named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in wins at St. John’s on Dec. 28 and vs. No. 2 UConn on Dec. 31. Nunge averaged 19.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals for the two games, while shooting 68.2 percent (15-22) from the field.
Nunge ranks second on the team and 12th in the BIG EAST in scoring at 15.2 ppg. He is second on the team and seventh in the BIG EAST in rebounding at 7.5 rpg.
No. 18 Xavier has now had a player honored in each of the first eight weeks of BIG EAST awards this season. It’s even more impressive that four different Musketeers have been honored at least once this season. This is Xavier’s second BIG EAST Player of the Week in the last three weeks.
The Musketeers, 12-3 overall and 4-0 in the BIG EAST Conference, moved up to No. 18 in this week’s Associated Press Poll. Xavier, which has won eight-straight games, visits Villanova on Saturday.
