Ohio State’s Brice Sensabaugh earns third B1G Ten Freshman of the Week Award

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Brice Sensabaugh led Ohio State to a pair of victories last week and picked up his third-consecutive Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor on Tuesday.

Sensabaugh led the team in scoring in both victories over Alabama A&M on Dec. 29 and on the road at Northwestern on Jan. 1. He scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds in the win over Alabama A&M while hitting 9-of-14 shots from the floor. Against Northwestern, the Orlando, Fla., native scored 16 of his game-high 18 points in the second half. He was 7-of-13 shooting, 2-of-5 from long range, and grabbed eight rebounds.

For the week, he averaged 19.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and shot over 57 percent. He is leading the team in scoring at 15.9 points per game which is third nationally among freshmen. He has scored in double figures in all but one game this season and has led the team in scoring in five of the last six games.

Sensabaugh is the third Buckeye to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week in three consecutive weeks. Jared Sullinger had two different stretches during the 2010-11 year when he won the award six consecutive weeks and three consecutive weeks. D’Angelo Russell also claimed the award in four consecutive weeks during the 2014-15 season.
