CINCINNATI — The Xavier University Musketeers, 10-3 overall and 2-0 in the BIG EAST Conference, are tied for No. 22 in this week’s AP Poll and rank No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Xavier takes a six-game winning streak to New York when it visits the St. John’s University Red Storm, 11-2 overall and 1-1 in the BIG EAST, on Wednesday night.

Xavier leads the series 14-6, although St. John’s has won the last three meetings. The SJU three-game winning streak came on the heels of Xavier’s 12-game winning streak in the series.

Xavier, 10-3 overall, won its sixth-straight game, 73-70 over Seton Hall on Dec. 20. XU is tied for No. 22 in this week’s AP Poll and is No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

• Xavier, 2-0 in the BIG EAST Conference, is shooting to equal its best starts ever in BIG EAST play. XU has started 3-0 three times: 2013-14, 2016-17 and 2017-18.

• Xavier leads the nation in assists per game at 21.2 apg. In addition, XU leads the BIG EAST and is fifth in the nation in overall field goal percentage (.511) and first in the BIG EAST and fifth in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (.409). XU leads the BIG EAST in scoring at 83.8 ppg., which ranks 14th in the nation.

• Xavier senior Zach Freemantle was named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll for his efforts in the Seton Hall win on Dec. 20, scoring a season-high 23 points to go with nine rebounds and three assists. This is his third time this season on the BE Honor Roll.

• Xavier graduate student Souley Boum, who led the team in scoring for the eighth time with an XU career-high 28 points at Georgetown, leads XU in scoring (third in BIG EAST at 17.3 ppg.). He is second on the team in assists (ninth in BIG EAST at 4.6 apg.), including a Xavier career-high seven assists in each of the last three games and four of the last five.

• Xavier junior Colby Jones, who was named Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team, leads XU in assists at 5.8 apg. (third in the BIG EAST and 17th in the nation) to go with 14.8 ppg., which ranks second on the team and 11th in the BIG EAST.

• Xavier graduate student Jack Nunge, who was named Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team, is third on the team in scoring at 14.6 ppg. (tied for 14th in the BIG EAST) and leads the team in rebounding at 7.5 rpg. (sixth in the BIG EAST).

• Xavier’s balanced scoring attack boasts five players in double figures in scoring (four in the top 20 in the BIG EAST): Souley Boum (third at 17.3 ppg.), Colby Jones (11th at 14.8 ppg.), Jack Nunge (tied for 14th at 14.6 ppg.), Zach Freemantle (17th at 14.3 ppg.) and Adam Kunkel (10.5 ppg.).
