The Bulldogs will face Washington State (7-5, 4-5 Pac-12) at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday, Dec. 17.
FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State (9-4, 7-1 MW) accepted an invitation to the 2022 Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl, presented by Stifel. The Bulldogs will face Washington State (7-5, 4-5 Pac-12) at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday, Dec. 17.
Fresno State won the 2022 Mountain West Championship last weekend with a 28-16 victory over Boise State at Albertsons Stadium. The Bulldogs are riding an eight-game win streak, tied for the fifth-longest active streak nationally.
“We are thrilled to welcome back the Mountain West and Pac-12 Conferences to our second annual bowl game at SoFi Stadium,” said Jason Gannon, executive director, Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl Presented By Stifel. “College football’s bowl season begins and ends at SoFi Stadium this year, with an exciting match-up of Washington State vs. Fresno State at the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl Presented By Stifel followed by the top two teams in the nation playing for the College Football Playoff National Championship on January 9. We look forward to hosting these two great college football games at SoFi Stadium.”
Fresno State is eligible for a postseason bowl game for the second time in as many seasons, marking the first time since 2017 and 2018 that the Bulldogs have made a bowl game in back-to-back seasons. The Bulldogs are bowl eligible for the third time in four seasons coached by Jeff Tedford – 2017, 2018, 2022. Fresno State is 2-0 in bowl games coached by Tedford.
The 2022 bowl game will be Fresno State’s 31st bowl appearance in program history.
Fresno State and Washington State have met on four previous occasions, with the Cougars holding a 3-1 advantage. The Mountain West holds a 2-0 record against Washington State in bowl games, as Air Force won the 2019 Cheez-It Bowl (31-21) and Colorado State captured the 2013 New Mexico Bowl (48-45).
