INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON – Wright State men’s basketball senior Trey Calvin has been named the first Horizon League Player of the Week of the season, the League office announced on Monday. Calvin’s game-winner lifted the Raiders past Louisville on the road Saturday afternoon as Wright State has now won three straight regular season contests against ACC opponents.

Calvin poured in a career-best 37 points in Wright State’s season opening, double overtime loss to Davidson on Wednesday before hitting the game-winning shot as time expired as part of a 17-point effort to help lift the Raiders past Louisville on Saturday. Calvin shot 45 percent from the floor in the two contests (22-49) and was perfect from the free throw stripe (6-6) while passing out nine assists and adding six rebounds, three steals and a block. Calvin played 43 minutes in the double overtime game against Davidson, including the entirety of both extra sessions with four fouls, before logging 31 points in the road win over Louisville as Wright State has now won its last three regular-season contests against ACC opponents. Dating back to last season, Calvin has now scored 15 or more points in his last eight contests, a stretch that includes the HL tournament and a pair of NCAA games.

Wright State and Calvin return home to the Nutter Center for a pair of contests this week, beginning Tuesday night when the Raiders welcome Bowling Green to town in a 7 p.m. start. Wright State faces off against Defiance on Thursday night, also at 7 p.m.
