COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have added goaltender Jet Greaves to the roster on emergency recall from the American Hockey League’s Cleveland Monsters and loaned center Kent Johnson to Cleveland, club General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.  The club also announced that goaltender Elvis Merzlikins is not available for tonight’s game at Carolina due to illness.

Greaves, 21, went 12-12-4 with a 2.84 goals-against average, .905 save percentage and one shutout in 29 games with the Monsters in 2021-22, which was his first season as a professional.  The 6-0, 184-pound native of Cambridge, Ontario spent the previous three years with the Ontario Hockey League’s Barrie Colts, posting a 20-27-8 mark, 3.71 GAA, .899 SV% and three shutouts in 60 games between 2018-20.  He did not play in 2020-21 as the OHL season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Johnson, 19, collected three assists and two penalty minutes in nine games with the Blue Jackets last season after concluding his sophomore year at the University of Michigan.  The club’s first pick, fifth overall, at the 2021 NHL Draft registered 17-47-64 and 10 penalty minutes in 58 games over the past two seasons at Michigan.  Last season, the 6-0, 175-pound native of Port Moody, British Columbia also played for Canada at the Olympic Games, IIHF World Championships and IIHF World Junior Championships, scoring the overtime golden goal in the latter.

The Blue Jackets open their 22nd regular season tonight when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes.  Game time from PNC Arena is 7 p.m. ET.  Live coverage on Bally Sports Ohio begins with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 6:30 p.m.  The game may also be heard on the Blue Jackets Radio Network, including Sports Radio 97.1 The Fan in Columbus, and online at BlueJackets.com.
