Club makes four moves to set 23-man roster in advance of Wednesday’s season-opener at Carolina

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets made four moves prior to the National Hockey League’s 5 p.m. ET deadline to submit its 23-man roster for the opening of the 2022-23 season, club General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. 

The Blue Jackets have placed goaltender Joonas Korpisalo (hip) and left wing Joona Luoto (lower body injury) on the Injured/Non-Roster list.  Columbus has also assigned right wing Emil Bemstrom and defenseman David Jiricek to the Cleveland Monsters, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate.

The Blue Jackets’ 23-man roster includes: Forwards (14) – 7 Sean Kuraly, 13 Johnny Gaudreau, 14 Gustav Nyquist, 17 Justin Danforth, 19 Liam Foudy, 24 Mathieu Olivier, 29 Patrik Laine, 34 Cole Sillinger, 38 Boone Jenner, 50 Eric Robinson, 59 Yegor Chinakhov, 91 Kent Johnson, 93 Jakub Voracek and 96 Jack Roslovic; Defense (7) – 2 Andrew Peeke, 4 Vladislav Gavrikov, 8 Zach Werenski, 22 Jake Bean, 27 Adam Boqvist, 44 Erik Gudbranson and 77 Nick Blankenburg; and Goaltenders (2) – 40 Daniil Tarasov and 90 Elvis Merzlikins.

The Blue Jackets open their 22nd regular season at the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday, October 12.  Game time from PNC Arena is 7 p.m. ET.  Live coverage on Bally Sports Ohio begins with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 6:30 p.m.  The game may also be heard on the Blue Jackets Radio Network, including Sports Radio 97.1 The Fan in Columbus, and online at BlueJackets.com.
