In the lead-up to the Los Angeles Rams – Buffalo Bills Kickoff game in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 8, the NFL will host a series of community and service events to celebrate the start of the league’s long-awaited 2022 season and to give back to the region that is home to the Super Bowl LVI Champions and the NFL’s West Coast Headquarters.

From partnering with Special Olympics athletes, paying homage to our military veterans, and community greening projects, the NFL family will unite to strengthen the community by leaving a lasting, positive impact on Los Angeles and its surrounding areas. In addition to events throughout the community, the NFL Foundation is pleased to provide support to Rainbow Labs, an LA-based LGBTQ Youth Serving organization and Jenesse Center, a Domestic Violence Intervention/Prevention programs. In celebration of Kickoff week, both organizations will receive grants in the amount of $10,000 to aid in the work to help survivors and their families.

Later that day, in collaboration with Little Caesars, the NFL will host community members and local Rams Inspire Change non-profit partners in Ted Watkins Park to celebrate the start of the season and the continued work being done in the Los Angeles community.

Ahead of Kickoff on Thursday, the NFL will relaunch the Character Playbook Program and recommit to providing hundreds of thousands of students with the social emotional skills they need to be successful in life. Alongside NFL Legends and volunteers, including 2021 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year and Super Bowl LVI Champion Andrew Whitworth, students will participate in a Character Playbook introduction and demonstration, and a service activity.

As part of the NFL’s year-long commitment to Salute to Service, at the NFL Kickoff Experience fans will have the opportunity to join the NFL and the USO in assembling 10,000 care packages that will be shipped, and hand-delivered to service members around the world during the holiday season. The week will round out with a community focused NFL Salute to Service event supporting Veterans in Compton.
