Club opens 22nd NHL season at Carolina on October 12; kicks off home slate vs. Tampa Bay on Friday, October 14
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets and National Hockey League announced today a 2022-23 regular season schedule in which the club will play 82 games, including 40 home dates at Nationwide Arena. The team will kick off its 22nd NHL season on Wednesday, October 12 against the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena. The Blue Jackets will open the home portion of their season two nights later on Friday, October 14 against the defending Eastern Conference-champion Tampa Bay Lightning at Nationwide Arena. This season’s schedule will see the Blue Jackets play every team in the NHL at least twice, including a back-to-back set against the 2022 Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche in Tampere, Finland on Friday, November and Saturday, November 5 in the 2022 NHL Global Series. Columbus will play Metropolitan Division teams a total of 26 times, including 13 games at Nationwide Arena. The Carolina Hurricanes, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals will each visit Nationwide Arena twice, while the New Jersey Devils will make a lone visit on February 14. The Blue Jackets will face teams in the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division 24 times, including 12 at home. The club will play two home games each against the Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers and Montreal Canadiens, while hosting the Boston Bruins, Ottawa Senators, Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs one time.
Overall, the Blue Jackets will play their 82 games over 184 days with 46 games slated for Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, including nine Thursday home games, seven Friday home contests and 10 Saturday home games at Nationwide Arena. Columbus will also play 10 times on Sunday, including four games on home ice. December and January are the club’s busiest months with 15 contests. The slate includes a season-high, six-game homestand from November 15-25 against Philadelphia, Montreal (twice), Detroit, Florida and the NY Islanders. The club will play a season-high five-straight road games from March 14-21 at San Jose, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Vegas and Washington.
