NEW YORK (April 22, 2022) – Toronto Maple Leafs forward Wayne Simmonds has been fined $2,250, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for charging Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Mikhail Sergachev during NHL Game No. 1234 in Tampa on Thursday, April 21, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 15:21 of the third period.

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
