Third Weekly Award for the Dayton Native

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton softball freshman Emma Schutter has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday. The award is for games played April 11-17.
George Mason’s Haley Taormina was selected as Player of the Week and Fordham’s Bailey Enoch was tabbed Pitcher of the Week.
Schutter posted a .455 average over a 2-1 weekend at Saint Louis. She posted back-to-back multi-hit games after going 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored in game two on Friday and followed that with a 3-for-4 outing including her second home run of the season. Schutter posted a .500 on-base percentage and .727 slugging percentage for the weekend. It was the second-straight and third overall rookie award for the outfielder from Dayton, Ohio.
UP NEXT
Dayton will have a bit of a break from action with a bye week in A-10 play next weekend. The team will play host to Purdue Fort Wayne Wednesday, April 27 for a non-conference doubleheader at UD Softball Stadium. First pitch between the Flyers and Mastodons is set for 3 p.m. and admission is free.
