COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State has earned a No. 7-seed in the 2022 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament and will face No. 10 seed Loyola Chicago on Friday at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa. The game time is set for 12:15 p.m. ET.

The Buckeyes and Ramblers will be meeting for the fifth time overall and the first in the NCAA Tournament. Ohio State has won the previous four meetings, but the teams have met just once since 1961. The Buckeyes won 87-75 on Nov. 11, 2006, in a game that was part of the Black Coaches Association Classic at Value City Arena.

Ohio State is making its 31st NCAA Tournament appearance.

Overall, the Buckeyes are 51-29 in NCAA Tournament games with one national title in 1960. The Buckeyes have finished as NCAA Runners-up four times (1939, 1961, 1962 and 2007) and has been to 10 Final Fours, 14 NCAA Sweet 16s and 14 Elite Eights.

The Buckeyes, led by fifth-year head coach Chris Holtmann, are 19-11 on the year and are making their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. Ohio State is one of 12 teams to earn a bid to each of the last four tournaments (no tournament in 2020).

Holtmann in the NCAA Tournament
Chris Holtmann will be taking his seventh-consecutive team (3 at Butler and 4 at Ohio State) to the NCAA Tournament and it would likely have been eight if the 2020 tournament was played. He has a career mark of 7-6 and has one Sweet 16 appearance with Butler in 2017.
