CBJ TEAM NOTES

  • The Blue Jackets have won five of the last six games overall with tonight’s victory over the Sabres.
  • CBJ swept the season series vs. Buffalo (3-0-0), outscoring the club 18-10.  It’s the first time the club has swept the season series vs. the Sabres (multiple games played).  Columbus has picked up points in the last seven meetings in the series vs. Buffalo (5-0-2) and 13 of the past 16 games dating back to Apr. 8, 2016 (11-3-2).
  • The Blue Jackets improved to 6-1-0 in the last seven games in the all-time series at Nationwide Arena dating back to Mar. 10, 2017.
  • The winning team in the series has recorded three-plus goals in 36 of the 38 victories of the series, including the last four-straight.
  • With seven goals, CBJ recorded the most goals scored vs. the Sabres at home in franchise history (previously 5 – 3x, MR: 10/27/18).
  • With 42 goals in nine games since Jan. 27 (4.67 avg.), CBJ rank second in the NHL in scoring, trailing only Florida (4.71).  The 42 goals are the most in franchise history through any nine-game stretch (previously 40, Mar. 19-Apr. 5, 2018).
  • Columbus has scored three-plus goals in 29 of its contests and four-plus goals in 23 of them and is 20-3-0 when scoring four goals or more in a contest this season.
  • The Blue Jackets have earned their victories this season, coming back at some point in the game in 15 of their 24 wins and in five of their last seven victories (trailed 2-1 vs. Buffalo).
  • CBJ killed off the Sabres’ lone power play attempt tonight. The club has now killed off 44-of-50 opponent power play chances over the last 17 games since Jan. 8 (88.0 pct.)
  • With three goals and three assists by defensemen tonight, CBJ have 28 goals and 111 points by defensemen this season.
  • The Blue Jackets improved to 4-1-0 in Sunday games this season.

CBJ PLAYER NOTES

·        D Dean Kukan notched his first career NHL multi-goal game and three-point effort with two goals and an assist (3-3-6 in 17 GP).  It’s his second career multi-point game after previously collecting 0-2-2 on Feb. 5, 2019 at Colorado.

·        LW Patrik Laine tallied his 10th multi-point effort of the season with two assists, extending his points-streak to nine consecutive games (10-8-18).  It’s the second longest points streak of his career with the longest being 15 games from Feb. 16-Mar. 18, 2018 (18-8-26).

·        C Brendan Gaunce notched his first career two-assist and three-point game with 1-2-3.  It’s also his third career NHL multi-point game (MR: Oct. 31, 2018 vs. CHI).  He now has 2-2-4 in six games this season.

·        D Zach Werenski extended his points streak to five consecutive games with a goal (2-4-6, overall 8-23-31 in 47 appearances).

·        C Max Domi notched his 200th career NHL assist and has 1-6-7 in the last nine contests.  He is now one point away from 300 for his NHL career.

·        RW Jakub Voracek recorded his team-leading 32nd assist of the season and has 1-6-7 in the last seven games.

·        C Boone Jenner recorded his ninth multi-point effort of the campaign with 1-1-2, stretching his points streak to three-straight games (2-4-6).  He has 3-6-9 in the last six games and has 9-10-19 with five multi-point outings in the last 17 contests.

·        LW Gustav Nyquist scored an empty net goal, giving him 3-7-10 in the last nine games (overall 13-18-31 in 49 GP).

·        D Gavin Bayreuther registered his eighth assist of the season giving him 0-8-8 in 29 appearances.

·        RW Yegor Chinakhov recorded an assist and has points in two-straight games (1-2-3, overall 6-5-11 in 40 GP).

·        RW Oliver Bjorkstrand registered his 18th assist of the season and has 3-2-5 in the last six games (overall 15-18-33 in 47 GP).

·        RW Justin Danforth scored in his first game back since being injured on Dec. 30, 2021 vs NSH (3-2-5 in 14 GP).

·        C Sean Kuraly registered an assist and has 0-2-2 in the last three games.

·        D Vladislav Gavrikov tallied his 20th assist of the season and has 0-4-4 in the last five contests (2-20-22 in 47 GP).

·        G J-F Berube stopped 33-of-36 shots in his CBJ debut.  It was his first NHL game since Apr. 6, 2018 vs. St. Louis and first win since April 4, 2018 at St Louis.
