CINCINNATI – Cincinnati junior running back Jerome Ford was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Ford rushed for a career-best 149 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries to lead No. 3/4 Cincinnati to a 52-3 win over Temple on Friday night in Nippert Stadium. Ford’s 75-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second half sparked a 28-point third quarter for the Bearcats.
On the season, Ford has 520 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. He is averaging 6.3 ypc and 104 yards per game. He has rushed for 100 yards in every home game this season.
In addition to Ford’s honor, senior cornerback Coby Bryant collected AAC Honor Roll mention. Bryant anchored Cincinnati’s stout defense with six tackles, an interception and one pass breakup as the BlackCats held the Owls to just 234 yards of total offense with the only points coming on a 55-yard field goal.
Ford is the third UC player to be named AAC Player of the Week this season, joining quarterback Desmond Ridder (Offensive, Oct. 4) and linebacker Deshawn Pace (Defensive, Sept. 20).
