COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have reduced their training camp roster by 10 players, assigning five to their junior clubs and releasing five from tryout contacts, club General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The training camp roster now stands at 58 players, including 33 forwards, 18 defensemen and seven goaltenders.
The Blue Jackets assigned the following players to their major junior clubs:
F Ben Boyd (Charlotteown/Quebec Major Junior Hockey League)
D Ole Julian Bjorgvik-Holm (Mississauga/Ontario Hockey League)
F James Malatesta (Quebec/Quebec Major Junior Hockey League)
F Martin Rysavy (Moose Jaw/Western Hockey League)
D Stanislav Svozil (Regina/Western Hockey League)
The club also released the following players from tryout contracts:
G Emerik Despatie
D Gerard Keane
F Kaleb Lawrence
F Peter Reynolds
D Mark Woolley
Columbus, which is 2-0-1 in preseason play, returns to action Saturday when it visits the Detroit Red Wings. Game time from Little Caesars Arena is 7 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live on Columbus Alternative 105.7 FM.
The Blue Jackets open their 21st regular season vs. the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday, October 14. Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET.
