COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed left wing Eric Robinson to a two-year, $3.2 million contract extension through the 2023-24 National Hockey League season, club General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Robinson, 26, has registered 15 goals and 15 assists for 30 points with five game-winning goals, 197 hits and 164 shots, while averaging 11:43 of ice time in 120 career regular season games with the Blue Jackets.  He set career highs in goals, assists, points, shots and games played in 2020-21, registering 8-10-18 with a +6 plus/minus rating and two game-winning goals on 75 shots in 56 appearances.  He was one of four players on the club to play in every game during the campaign and led Columbus in plus/minus rating and game-winning goals (tied), while also ranking second among forwards in hits (94).

“Eric has provided size, speed and competitiveness to our lineup since making his NHL debut in 2018,” said Kekalainen. “He is a young player that has steadily improved each year.  We believe he has just begun to realize his potential and as he continues to improve will have a significant impact on our hockey club moving forward.”

The Bellmawr, New Jersey native originally signed a two-year, entry-level contract with Columbus on March 26, 2018.  In 2019-20, he tallied 7-5-12 with a +10 plus/minus rating in 50 outings, ranking eighth among NHL rookies in plus/minus and second among club rookies in goals and third in shots.  He made his NHL debut with the team in the 2017-18 regular season finale on April 7 at Nashville.

The 6-2, 200-pound winger has added 15-14-29, 21 penalty minutes and a cumulative +5 plus/minus rating in 59 outings in two seasons with the American Hockey League’s Cleveland Monsters from 2018-20.  He led Monsters rookies in assists and ranked second in goals (tied), points and plus/minus in 2018-19 with 12-12-24 and 15 penalty minutes in 45 games.

Prior to turning pro, Robinson registered 39-28-67 and 74 penalty minutes in 128 career games at Princeton University (ECAC) from 2014-18.  He served as team captain during his senior campaign in 2017-18, setting career highs with 17-14-31 and 44 penalty minutes in 36 games.
