Lehigh Valley outfielder Matt Vierling, Jersey Shore right-hander Adam Leverett, Clearwater right-hander Victor Vargas and Reading infielder/outfielder Madison Stokes have been named Phillies Minor League Hitter, Co-Pitchers and Defender of the Month, respectively, for June.

Vierling batted .382 (21-55) with a double, two triples, two home runs, eight RBI, six stolen bases and a .397 on-base percentage in 14 games between double-A Reading and triple-A Lehigh Valley. He hit safely in 13 of those games, and from June 10-16 batted .542 (13-24) with six straight multi-hit efforts. The 24-year-old Missouri native was selected by the Phillies in the fifth round of the June 2018 draft.

Leverett, 22, posted a 0.54 ERA (1 ER, 16.2 IP) in four games (2 starts) with high-A Jersey Shore, striking out 18 batters and holding opponents to a .161 batting average. He also made one start for double-A Reading, and between the two levels combined to post a 2.08 ERA (5 ER, 21.2 IP) with 22 strikeouts. Leverett, originally from Georgia, was selected by the Phillies in the 15th round of the June 2019 draft.

The 20-year-old Vargas started three games and appeared in two more in relief for single-A Clearwater in June, posting a 2.11 ERA (5 ER, 21.1 IP) with a 1.03 WHIP and 22 strikeouts to six walks. He held opponents to a .203 batting average and surrendered only one home run. In his two relief appearances, he pitched 4.0 innings of one-run ball in each and recorded two saves. Vargas, a native of Colombia, was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent in July 2017.

Stokes, 25, started 22 games at first base (10 games), left field (6 games), right field (3 games) and third base (3 games) for Reading, recording a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 192.0 total innings. He logged one outfield assist and played a part in six double plays in the infield. Stokes, a South Carolina native, was selected by the Phillies in the 10th round of the June 2018 draft.
