Tampa Bay Rays adjusts upcoming 3-game series schedule vs. Cleveland Indians with Tropical Storm Elsa looming

7/5/2021

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Due to the path of Tropical Storm Elsa, the Tampa Bay Rays and Major League Baseball have adjusted the schedule for the three-game series against the Cleveland Indians at Tropicana Field.

The game on Tuesday, July 6 has been postponed and rescheduled as a traditional single-admission doubleheader on Wednesday, July 7 at 12:10 p.m. For Wednesday’s doubleheader, gates will open at 10:40 a.m. Game 2 will begin approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of Game 1. Single-game tickets dated Wednesday, July 7 will be valid for both games of the doubleheader, and no exchange is necessary.

Per Major League Baseball and its Players Association, both games of the doubleheader will be seven innings in length.

Fans who purchased tickets for the Tuesday, July 6 game against Cleveland through RaysBaseball.com, the MLB Ballpark app, or over the phone will automatically receive a credit to their Rays ticket account in the amount of the face value. This credit may be used toward any 2021 regular season home game at Tropicana Field, subject to availability, including Wednesday’s doubleheader. Fans may visit RaysBaseball.com to choose a new game. Once logged in, the credit from the postponed game will appear in the cart. If tickets were forwarded to you, the credit has been applied to the original purchaser.

As a result of Tuesday’s postponement, a change has also been made to the Rays promotional schedule. The Austin Meadows Bobblehead, presented by Bally Sports Sun, has been rescheduled for July 20 against the Baltimore Orioles.

This will be the fourth doubleheader in Tropicana Field history, all traditional. The Rays and Detroit Tigers split a doubleheader on September 30, 2004, which was rescheduled from Hurricane Frances four weeks prior. On June 10, 2017, the Rays hosted the Oakland Athletics in MLB’s first scheduled doubleheader since 2011. On August 8, 2020, the Rays and New York Yankees split a doubleheader after schedule changes impacted several clubs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
