COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets center Max Domi underwent successful surgery on Thursday to repair a labral tear of his right shoulder and is expected to make a full recovery in five to six months, Blue Jackets General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.  The surgery was performed by Dr. Peter Millett at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado.

“Max had been experiencing some discomfort in his shoulder, which he brought to our attention last week and a subsequent examination revealed a labral tear,” said Kekalainen.  “It was determined that surgery was the best course of action and we look forward to Max’s return early next season.”

Domi, 26, completed his first season as a Blue Jacket in 2020-21 after being acquired in a trade from the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 6, 2020.  He registered nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points with 75 penalty minutes in 54 games in 2020-21.  He led the team and finished second in the National Hockey League in penalty minutes.  The 5-10, 192-pound forward posted 4-8-12, including three multi-point efforts, in his last 17 outings of the campaign from April 1-May 8.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native has posted 90-185-275 and 375 penalty minutes in 429 career NHL contests with the Blue Jackets, Canadiens and Arizona Coyotes since making his NHL debut in 2015-16.  He was originally selected by the Coyotes in the first round, 12th overall, at the 2013 NHL Draft.
