BOSTON, MA – Following Wednesday’s game against the Atlanta Braves, the Boston Red Sox optioned outfielder Franchy Cordero to Triple-A Worcester.
Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.
Cordero, 26, has appeared in 34 games with the Red Sox this season, making 26 starts in left field and one at designated hitter. He has hit .179 (17-for-95) with six doubles, one home run, and nine RBI. Acquired from the Kansas City Royals on February 10, 2021, the left-handed hitter has batted .222 (84-for-379) with 13 home runs and a .678 OPS in 129 major league games with the San Diego Padres (2017-19), Royals (2020), and Red Sox (2021).
