KEY POINTS
New York City FC comes into
Saturday’s matchup against the
reigning MLS Cup Champion
Columbus Crew unbeaten in the last
four matches. The Clubs met three
times last season and NYCFC’s only
result came during a 1-0 win at Red
Bull Arena.
This is the last match of a four-game
stretch for NYCFC that featured all
four teams that finished above the
Club in the 2020 Eastern Conference
table (Toronto FC, Orlando City SC,
and Philadelphia Union as the others).
The Boys in Blue have earned five
points from a possible nine so far.
Earlier this week, the Club signed
Talles Magno from Vasco da Gama as
a Young Designated Player. The
match against Columbus comes too
soon for the 18-year-old to make his
debut. His compatriot Thiago Andrade
is expected to arrive in market in the
coming days and will be available for
selection following a mandated
quarantine.
Jesus Medina scored his fourth goal of
the season last weekend against
Toronto FC. Along with fellow South
American Valentin Castellanos, the
pair are the only two teammates in
Major League Soccer with 4 or more
goals apiece heading into the
weekend.
