LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled left-handed pitcher Alex Vesia and optioned right-handed pitcher Edwin Uceta.
Vesia, 25, will be recalled for the second time this season and his next appearance will be his Dodgers debut. The Northern California native was acquired from the Marlins along with minor leaguer Kyle Hurt in exchange for Dylan Floro. The southpaw made five appearances for the Marlins in 2020, allowing nine runs in 4.1 innings with five strikeouts. In 52 career minor league games, he has posted a 1.62 ERA (18 ER/100.0IP) and 138 strikeouts.
Uceta, 23, made his Major League debut last night, tossing 2.0 innings, allowing two runs with two strikeouts, and suffering the loss. The Dominican Republic native has been with the Dodgers organization since signing as international free agent on July 2, 2016. In parts of four minor league seasons, he has posted a 20-12 record with a 3.73 ERA (137 ER/331.0 IP) and 362 strikeouts.
