Columbus Blue Jackets make roster moves

COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS RECALL DEFENSEMAN GAVIN BAYREUTHER FROM THE TAXI SQUAD, FORWARD CLIFF PU TO TAXI SQUAD FROM AHL’S CLEVELAND MONSTERS

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Gavin Bayreuther from the taxi squad and added forward Cliff Pu to the taxi squad from the American Hockey League’s Cleveland Monsters, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Bayreuther, 26, has collected two goals and three assists for five points with 10 penalty minutes in 19 career NHL games, all with the Dallas Stars in 2018-19.  Signed by Columbus as a free agent last October, the 6-1, 195-pound blueliner has notched 1-9-10 and 11 penalty minutes in 10 outings with Cleveland this season.  In 208 career AHL games, he has 23-78-101 and 91 penalty minutes with the Monsters and Texas Stars.  The Canaan, New Hampshire native collected 35-76-111, 92 penalty minutes and a cumulative +24 plus/minus rating in 142 career games at St. Lawrence University (ECAC) from 2013-17.

Pu, 22, has recorded 2-12-14, 16 penalty minutes and a cumulative +2 plus/minus rating in 71 career AHL games with the Monsters, Springfield Thunderbirds and Charlotte Checkers since making his pro debut in 2018-19.  The Richmond Hill, Ontario native was acquired in a trade from Florida on Oct. 8, 2020 and has posted 0-4-4 and two penalty minutes in eight AHL contests with Cleveland this season.  He has added 3-8-11 in nine career East Coast Hockey League outings with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and Florida Everblades.  The 6-2, 182-pound forward was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round, 69th overall, at the 2016 NHL Draft.  He recorded 80-130-210, 92 penalty minutes and a cumulative +53 plus/minus rating in 232 career Ontario Hockey League contests with the Kingston Frontenacs, London Knights and Oshawa Generals from 2014-18.
