NHL suspends Nashville’s McCarron two games for illegal check

NEW YORK (April 11, 2021) – Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron has been suspended for two games, without pay, for an illegal check to the head of Tampa Bay Lightning forward Yanni Gourde during NHL Game No. 644 in Nashville on Saturday, April 10, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 19:34 of the third period. McCarron was assessed a match penalty for illegal check to the head.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, McCarron will forfeit $12,068.96. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
