The short story: Sophomore guard Bones Hyland scored all 21 of his points in the second half to aid VCU’s comeback effort, but the Rams were unable to overcome top-seeded St. Bonaventure Sunday in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Game.


  • Hyland connected on 11-of-12 free throws and added six rebounds
  • Junior forward Vince Williams added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Rams
  • Freshman Josh Banks came off the bench to drop 10 points for the Black and Golf
  • Kyle Lofton led all players with 23 points for St. Bonaventure 


  • St. Bonaventure held VCU to 41 percent (22-of-54) shooting in the game, including 6-of-18 from 3-point range
  • The Bonnies owned a 42-32 advantage on the glass and turned 13 offensive boards into 17 second-chance points
  • St. Bonaventure also connected on 8-of-19 from beyond the 3-point arc
  • The Bonnies held VCU to 35-percent (11-of-31) shooting on the way to a 32-25 halftime lead
