Emani Jefferson, Wright State newcomer, a recent Horizon League Freshman of the Week

DAYTON/INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State women’s basketball freshman Emani Jefferson has been named the Horizon League’s Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Monday Afternoon.

Jefferson led the Raiders to a weekend sweep of Northern Kentucky on the road, as the freshman averaged 17.5 points, four rebounds, and 2.5 steals. Jefferson opened the weekend with a career-high 18 points, going 7-for-11 from the field, 2-for-5 from three, and a perfect 2-for-2 from the line. She also pulled down four rebounds and tallied two steals.

Saturday saw Jefferson record a team-leading 17 points, pull down four rebounds, tally two blocks and capture three steals. The North Port, FL native finished Saturday’s contest a perfect 7-for-7 from the field, 2-for-2 from beyond arc and go 1-for-2 from the line.

The Raiders are 15-5 on the season, 15-3 in Horizon League action and currently sit in first place of the seedings.
