Blue Jackets News: ASSIGN FORWARD LIAM FOUDY, DEFENSEMAN ADAM CLENDENING TO AHL’S CLEVELAND MONSTERS, RECALL DEFENSEMAN GAVIN BAYREUTHER TO TAXI SQUAD

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned forward Liam Foudy and defenseman Adam Clendening to the Cleveland Monsters, the team’s American Hockey League Affiliate, and recalled defenseman Gavin Bayreuther to the club’s taxi squad, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Foudy, 21, has tallied three assists and two penalty minutes in 12 games this season and has 0-4-4 and two penalty minutes in 14 career NHL regular season contests.  He also collected 1-1-2 in 10 games during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs.  The club’s first pick, 18th overall, at the 2018 NHL Draft, he spent the past four seasons with the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights, where he registered 97-94-191 with 97 penalty minutes and a cumulative +79 plus/minus rating in 230 games from 2016-20.

Clendening, 28, has 4-20-24 and 49 penalty minutes in 90 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Arizona Coyotes, New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks.  He has added 39-200-239 and 440 penalty minutes in 361 career AHL contests, including 11-67-78, 173 penalty minutes and a +14 plus/minus rating in 90 games over the past two seasons with the Monsters.  In 2019-20, he collected 7-34-41 and 75 penalty minutes in 55 outings with Cleveland.

Bayreuther, 26, was signed by the Blue Jackets as a free agent on Oct. 9, 2020 and has tallied 2-3-5, 10 penalty minutes and a +2 plus/minus rating in 19 career NHL games, all during the 2018-19 season with the Dallas Stars.  He has added 22-69-91 and 82 penalty minutes in 200 career AHL games with the Monsters and Texas Stars, including two penalty minutes in two games with Cleveland this season.  The Canaan, New Hampshire native played four seasons at St. Lawrence University (ECAC) from 2013-17, registering 35-76-111 with 92 penalty minutes and a +24 plus/minus rating in 142 career games.

The Blue Jackets return to action on Saturday when they host the Nashville Predators.  Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET.  The game will be broadcast live on FOX Sports Ohio and the FOX Sports Go app with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the “Blue Jackets Live” pre-game show.  It will also be broadcast on the Eldorado Gaming Scioto Downs Blue Jackets Radio Network, including flagship station 97.1 The Fan in Columbus.
