BOSTON, MA – Wright State men’s basketball redshirt-senior center Loudon Love has been named to the Lou Henson Award mid-season Watch List, announced on Tuesday night. The award is presented annually to the nation’s top Division I mid-major player.
Love, who was previously named to the award’s preseason watch list prior to the season, is averaging a double-double with 14.6 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per game in 15 games this season entering the weekend’s action. In Horizon League contests, the preseason player of the year selection has upped his production even more, currently holding a 15.1 points per game average.
A two-time member of the Lou Henson All-America Team, Love was also named the Horizon League’s Player of the Year last March in addition to being a two-time All-Horizon first team selection and beginning his collegiate career as the League’s Freshman of the Year following the 2017-18 campaign.
Love tallied a season-best 26 points at Detroit Mercy, just one point shy of his career high, back in December, and has scored in double-figures in all 15 games this season. He ended the 2019-20 regular season with 15 consecutive double-digit scoring games and has now recorded 10-plus points in his last 30 regular season contests.
Love became Wright State’s all-time leading rebounder on Dec. 13, 2020 at Bowling Green with his 908th rebound to pass former Raider Bill Edwards and currently has 1,035 career boards, on the verge of surpassing former Wright State women’s basketball standout Symone Simmons and her current Wright State all-time leading 1,050 career rebounds. Entering the Robert Morris games, Love has 1,612 career points and is No. 7 all-time in Wright State program history. He is 67 points away from cracking the top five list all-time.
