HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Herd men’s hoops travels to Dayton to take on the Wright State Raiders for its first road contest of the 2020-21 season on Thursday night at the Nutter Center.

Marshall opened its season with a 70-56 win over Arkansas State on Nov. 27 at the Cam Henderson Center.

Junior Taevion Kinsey led MU with 17 points and seven rebounds in the victory.

Senior Jarrod West led the Herd with eight assists and five steals in the season-opening win.

Redshirt senior Jannson Williams and freshman Obinna Anochili-Killen each had three blocks in the contest. Anochili-Killen also scored eight points in his collegiate debut in the Green and White.

Marshall outrebounded the Red Wolves 39-38 in the victory.

West enters the year two steals away from breaking Skip Henderson’s men’s basketball program record of 208.

Redshirt senior Jannson Williams comes into the 2020-21 campaign 29 blocks away from breaking Hassan Whiteside’s program record of 182.

West and Kinsey are also chasing down the 1,000-point milestone with 951 and 930 points each, respectively.

SCOUTING WRIGHT STATE
Scott Nagy enters his fifth season at the helm of the Raiders with a record of 90-43 during his tenure. Wright State won the 2019-20 Horizon League regular season title and was preparing for the NIT before the collegiate season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Loudon Love returns to WSU coming off a season that saw him nearly average a double-double with a team-high 15.9 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.

Also on Wright State’s roster is Tanner Holden, son of Marshall Hall of Fame men’s basketball player Rodney Holden. Tanner averaged 11.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and had 51 assists last season.
