OSU AT MIAMI GAMEDAY: Buckeyes can’t pass, tackle or score touchdowns in 24-6 embarrassment

There were several weaknesses exposed in Ohio State’s 24-6 national television embarrassment to the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday night.

They couldn’t pass, catch, score touchdowns and the quarterbacks looked lost, completing 4 of 18 passes for a feeble 35 yards.

Joe Bauserman, who is turning into a one-game wonder, played tentative and scared, and didn’t to anything to secure the #1 quarterback job which most fans and media feel he shouldn’t be competing for anyway.

Braxton Miller showed he could make plays when plans break down, did lose a fumble and threw an interception which was tipped by his own receiver. However, he showed more poise than Bauserman, who looked out of his league.

The running game led by Jordan Hall and Carlos Hyde kept the game from being more lopsided than it was.

Hall, back from a two-game suspension by the NCAA, gave the offense a big lift by rushing for 87 yards on 14 carries before cramps slowed him in the second half.

Hyde continued his hard-nosed, bulldozing running with 54 yards.

The Hurricanes were led on offense by running back Lamar Miller, a sophomore who rushed for 184 yards on 26 carries. His 54-yard run through the right side on the first play from scrimmage set up Miami’s first touchdown and they were never in any real jeopardy after that.
